That 70’s girl

That 70’s girl

She was a girl born sometime in the 70s. She was from Delhi, the capital which was producing the country’s whos and whos. Rishi Kapoor was her favorite actor. We found her diary. We are imagining what she looked like in the wardrobe heroes of 70s fashion with the help of Mansa as we share excerpts from her diary about the places she used to go, her dreams and what she loved.

23rd March ;

The day was a happy one. I first went to Kwality with Maa. We had our favourite Chhole Bathure. Maa told me she would love to come here with her grandchildren and tell them stories of their mother. Aah, my mom and her dreams. Good night diary as I am going to dig my face into Carrie. This book is slowly turning into one of my favorites. I think I am forever coming back to this book. Thank you Sanjeev Bhaiyya for getting me this book.

7th April :

We went to Nilu Aunty’s house for her anniversary party .The party was a success , like everyone thought. Sadly, either there was wine or Rooh Afza. I felt like running off to the nearby Triveni tea place in Bengali Market. Sadly, it closes down around 8. Oh, the tea the place serves is exquisite, Time flies fast as I chatter with Shubha , Sarita and Vinod and relish tea in those Victorian styled tea cups.

27th May :

Rishi Kapoor looks like the boy of my dreams.  I wish it was me instead of Dimple Kapadia with whom he would get locked in a room .Baba would be mad if he knows I am swooning over a bollywood actor. He has always talked about marrying me to a boy who works in the government sector. He imagines me living in a big house in Sundar Nagar with a sprawling garden. I don’t dream of all that, I dream of getting locked in a room with Rishi Kapoor.
